Sergeant David Kelly

Welcome to your Bolton South neighbourhood pages.

I am Sergeant Dave Kelly and have responsibility for neighbourhood policing for Farnworth, New Bury, Highfield, Harper Green and Moses Gate areas of Bolton.

I joined Greater Manchester Police on the youth trainee scheme (YTS) in 1991 before being taken on full time in September 1992 as an administration assistant based at Bootle Street Police Station in Manchester City Centre.

I moved around different roles within the GMP until 2005 when I became a call handler and radio dispatcher in one of GMP’s control rooms.

In 2011 I became a Police Community Support Officer based within the neighbourhood team at Horwich covering various area’s including Heaton and Lostock, Horwich and Halliwell.

In 2017 I was successful in joining as a Police Constable and worked as a response officer, responding to 999 and non-emergency calls for several years.

In 2020 I became a Neighbourhood beat officer for the Farnworth area where I have remained until July 2024 when I took up the position of Temporary Neighbourhood Sergeant for the area.

Neighbourhood policing has always been the area of policing I wanted to work in. I firmly believe that our communities should have a safe place to live, work and go about their daily business in. Partnership working is key to resolving the issues that cause harm in our communities and over the years I have build up great working relationship not only with our partners but the local community and this is something I and the team will continue doing.

Over the coming months the team will be updating these pages, where you will find the latest PACT meetings. These meetings, interaction with the community and crime data will help us set our priorities for each of our policing area’s.

Greater Manchester Police have launched a new alert system called ‘Bee in the Loop’ which will allow my team to contact you directly about crime alerts, meetings, and general crime prevention advice. This is an email-based system and once you have registered you will start to receive the alerts.

Inspector Keiron Maddocks

I am Inspector Keiron Maddocks and have ownership of neighbourhood policing for Bolton Town Centre, Great Lever, Farnworth, Harper Green, Kearsley, Little Lever, Hulton and Rumworth.

I joined Greater Manchester Police almost 18years ago. I started on the Salford Division and since then have worked in a variety of uniform roles in various ranks. I have worked in a number of neighbourhood police roles across Salford, City of Manchester before arriving as a Neighbourhood Inspector in Bolton.

I have always enjoyed front line policing, problem solving an partnership work. Neighbourhood policing is something I truly believe can have a positive impact on communities and working with partners and yourselves we can target and deal with those individuals who negatively impact your quality of lives.

Myself and my team of officers understand the current concerns and will work hard with our partners to resolve the issues that affect our communities. It is as important to us as it is to you.

On these pages you will find priorities in our area that we continue to work on. We will update these priorities with the action we have taken to remedy them.

Sergeant Oliver Cooper

I have worked for Greater Manchester Police for 10 years, starting as an apprentice member of staff, being a Police Constable for over 4 years and now a Police Sergeant for close to 3 years.

I have worked as part of neighbourhood teams in the past as staff and spent my officer career focusing on Response Policing. I have recently spent time as the Police Sergeant in the Neighbourhood Priority Crime Team, specialising in Burglaries, Robberies and Vehicle Crime across Bolton.

The local community is very important to me and I want to focus on the long term problems in Rumworth and Hulton that are affecting the residents.
